Time to change the CCV filter in your 2007.5 - 2024 Ram Cummins Turbo Diesel truck?Hold on, what is a CCV?
The crankcase ventilation filter sits on top of the valve cover and, from what looks like a last minute entry in the '07.5 Owners Manual, it requires inspection and/or changing at 67,500 miles for 2007.5-2018 model year trucks, and at 75,000 miles for 2019-2024 models. According to Ram, a message on your overhead console will alert you to the need to change the filter.
Furthermore, should the crankcase vent system become clogged there are DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) that will be set causing a malfunction indicator light (MIL for the uninitiated) to come on. Specifically the DTCs for CCV problems are:
- P1507 crankcase filter restriction.
- P1508 crankcase filter restriction—replace filter.

PLEASE NOTE: You may receive item part number CV52001 or CV54003. These filters are the same. Item CV54003 is the OEM Mopar crankcase filter made by Cummins Filtration for Mopar.

I just replaced the filter after watching the you tube video. Easy as pie. Now I just have to reset the service required notification after I watch another video on it.

This was an easy remove and replace filter. Fit just like the OEM filter I replaced and was 1/3 the cost of having the dealer replace it. I'm only giving it a 4 star because I do not know how long it will last.
Owner Response:This is a Cummins/Fleetguard OEM filter. There are too many variables from condition of engine to how the truck is used that will determine how long the CCV filter will last.
