DRAW STRAW V - VULCAN PERFORMANCE ('98.5-'18)

This is an excellent product and fixed my fuel pressure issues. The stock in-tank fuel pump was too restrictive for the FASS pump that I installed and causing low fuel pressure. I installed this and have adequate pressure now. The instructions jump around a little bit in my opinion but with the aid of the pictures, it is pretty easy to understand.

The draw straws is very cool as to how it takes the place of the pump.yoi have to be careful when installing. The directions are very good. Like the decal you throw in too.

Instructions are poorly written and just as poorly illustrated. They jump around quite a bit as one reviewer mentioned. There are things you have to pull out of the module that you need replacement parts for. At about $70 retail for this unit a few parts isn't too much to ask for. Examples: Return fuel tube to go back where the old one came from when you cut out the H valve, a plug and clamp for the old suction line, a section of fuel line to replace the OEM line that no longer fits. The flexible suction line supplied is too short to attach to the Bulkhead Unit DS5. To fit it in place you need to collapse the module springs some and there is zero play to work with. Why be so stingy with it? The bulkhead unit has lots of threads you could use to extend it above the level of the electrical connector making it face the right direction for the fuel line without having to route it around and to the back of the module but NO, you can't do that because the suction tube is too short. You give up a lot that Dodge engineers (I really don't believe they are stupid enough to add stuff that cost money that isn't needed) thought was important to use this suction tube modification such as, a primary suction strainer and the venturi device that makes sure you have plenty of fuel in the suction cup. I don't have a good feeling about losing either of these. Maybe it works but the "never go below 1/4 tank" admonition gives concern. What exactly does the 1/2" hole in the side of the suction cup actually accomplish? Instructions: They jump around a lot. It would be more straight forward to break it into sections and complete each before moving on to the next e.g.; 1. Remove module from tank 2. Destroy $300+ OEM fuel module 3. Make repairs and patches to fuel module 4. Install DS-5 5. Reinstall module but you'll have to also replace the fuel line to the module buying some kind of fuel line and clamps that will work. The instructions also don't tell you about the strainer and the venturi on the bottom of the OEM pump that you pretty much have to break into two pieces in order to get it out. This thing is more like some prototype that they built once, managed to install and called it good then went into production. It could be a lot better thought out and with better instructions. It is too expensive a thing to be having to round up additional parts to finish hooking it up. I would not buy it again. I'd figure out something else. I hope it works without problems.
