Disappointed.
Made in China, no weep hole even tho image shows a weep hole. Available at Walmart for less. Installed, but old one was done, so needed to get it in. Works, but for how long; with no weep hole, will just wait til it starts screaming. Cannot recommend. It did fit and it arrived quickly.

My '07 5.9L Cummins lost it OE water pump at 130K. Replaced with a non-Gates more$ brand and impellers rubbed the block. Took it back and bought a Gates for less$. 186K and going strong. Plan to replace with a Gates when needed.

Ok, so I replaced my water pump 30,000 miles ago and noticed I had a water leak... after some research I found the water pump to be culprit... pretty disappointing that it only lasted 30k but whatever... installed the new one and so far no problems... only thing is that this one is a little different from the last, I hope it's a redesign not a mispackaged pump but the difference is in the impeller design... I guess we will see.....I googled the part number to confirm it was correct and it was but again it was different from the last so time will tell
Owner Response:I reviewed your account and only found the most recent Gates water pump purchase. If the one you installed 30,000 miles ago was a Gates, then contact the who you purchased it from and they should replace it under warranty. Gates has a great warranty.

My original water pump didn't have the weep hole in it. The replacement I received did and I had to grind off some of the flange on the bottom edge in order for the pump to line up with the mounting holes. Not much of a problem once I figured out what was wrong. I love the fast shipping from Geno's.

Leaked from the day it was installed. It got progressively worse. Changed at 4 months. Will see how the new one does. I have yet to claim warranty. May not be worth the hassle.

Installed December 1, 2017. Now leaking. It has been very cold. It seems to be worse when the block heater is plugged in. On the one I just replaced you could see where it leaks from the weep hole, not the bearing or seal. What gives? Should I just carry extra coolant and let it leak on the driveway? It is way to cold to change again now.

The stock pump had 158,000 miles on it, replaced with a Gates. The pump was almost exactly as the original, good quality for the lower cost. Working great so far.

My Gates water pump just failed after 103,000 miles. I bought it from Geno's on May 18, 2016. Went through 3 AutoZone pumps that all failed consequentially. Does anyone know what the warranty is on the Gates?
Owner Response:Gates does offer a limited lifetime warranty. This would not, however, cover normal wear and tear.
So you pump was leaking out of the weep hole or experienced a bearing failure, then please contact us directly at (770) 886-2500.

3.5 years and around 25,000 miles, have quite a bit of coolant coming out of the weep hole. Switching to a different brand.
Owner Response:Thank you for your product review. We have revisited Gates warranty to verify there current policy. Gates offers a 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty on the water pumps we offer. Comparing this warranty to a Cummins warranty of one year, and taking into account that we periodically see Cummins OEM water pumps fail in similar amount of time, we feel the Gates is a great product at a good price. We are not aware of a better option than Gates or Cummins OEM and please keep in mind that all manufactures experience a small amount of premature failures. We are sorry for the troubles.
